Move, Learn, Eat

I recently came across these amazing short films that are based on these three concepts. After seeing them I quickly pondered over how surreal it must have been to be in all of those places in such a short amount of time and yet to have captured moments that will last a life time. Being an artist I love creativity in every form and the way they presented theirs through these short films was one form I had yet to discover.

There is nothing so enticing as one's thirst for learning about things outside of themselves.

I love everything about these documentaries as they capture so much life in such a short segment. My favorite of the three is the one titled learn because that really captured the essence of what they set out to do, create.

Palate & Palette

Often times we hear words in the English language not realizing someone can be referring to two different things with a word that sounds like another. One of them I often come across is palate and palette. The first refers to your taste in food and the second refers to a flat surface that holds and mixes paint. Much like the first definition they both refer to taste in that it is the painters taste which paints mix well and which ones don't.

I recently moved into a new place and it is so great to be in a place that has all the potential for decorating. This again is a beautiful concept that revolves around taste. On that note I wanted to find something that would bring my room together and I recently decided to re-edit an old photo, the re-edit is below :)

California Poppy, Taken in Napa Valley :)

With school around the corner I can't be more excited to settle in and get ready for my busy fall schedule and finishing this really brought that extra sense of accomplishment to my week.

Bringing the food palate back into the mix, food too can be a work of art in that it can become multidimensional and really be at the discretion of the persons palate. To date I have had the opportunity to try quite a few different cuisines I was not exposed to until I entered college. One of the places I visited last year was not only unique in that it was a fusion restaurant but everything about it stated clean, modern, and tasteful. The restaurant based in Dallas is called Lumi its an empanada and dumpling kitchen. If you are ever in the Dallas area I highly suggest you try it. I ordered such a beautiful mix of flavors that day it was definitely art for my palate :)

Movie Time

Every once in a while I like to go see a movie in the theaters; at least once a season a movie at the drive-in.

I am a fan of a lot of different types of movies but my all time favorite are romantic comedies. I love to laugh and I love a good love story :)

Recently I went to see Larry Crowne, a beautiful movie about change and embracing life today. I loved the concept from the moment I saw the previews and I loved the movie! With out giving any spoilers the base story line of the movie is that Larry, played by Tom Hanks, looses his job and was downsized because he had no potential to move up in the company due to a lack of being college educated. Being a college student this hit home with me.

This movie appeals to the common person, this very issue, of a lack of education has been a downfall for many Americans today but the movie was beautifully done in that he went back to school and embraced life with out complaining! Everything about the movie from the character's lives that intermix with his to the way the movie ends is beautiful ~

Euphonic

A great Beethoven piece :)

Bach on the cello, so beautiful!

Thanking the audience for such an overwhelming turnout, it was standing room only!
An interesting piece, not my fav but he is amazingly talented!

and it was so lovely!

Music is such a powerful thing for the body- even though we hear it, music really affects all of our senses to an extent. Not only can it take you on a journey visually but when eating music can affect the rate in which you eat and it can affect your sense of touch by changing your mood when you allow it to, think art gallery :)

I am a visual learner and love to meditate on things above while listening to such beautiful melodies.
I love to engulf myself in a great song, I particularly love worship and a great jazz instrumental both offer such different but beautiful elements.

Another aspect I love about music is its ability to inspire when working, I love editing to music!

Initiate- Sarah+Allen: Everyday

Every day is a new opportunity to initiate something in life. I like to initiate with my art while learning to better appreciate the little things in life. I love to learn new things.

To fully appreciate these photos I first like to add a personal note :)
I met Sarah through my brother when he and his wife were first dating. I quickly learned of Sarah's amazing talent for doing hair and make-up, not to mention her heart of gold, she is one of the sweetest and most fun people I've ever met. I have had the awesome opportunity of working with her a few times now and I have loved every bit of it. We've discussed putting together her portfolio and I officially consider her a go to vendor for my shoots/weddings when need be :)

Last year after hosting a wedding shower for my brother and his now wife, where a slide show of my images were shown from their engagements and save the dates, that can be seen here, I was soon after in contact with Sarah as now my sister was getting married and needed to hire a hair and make-up artist. When I contacted her to discuss how she would like to be paid for her time she mentioned that her and her husband never got engagement photos, they had hired a really amazing, but pricey, photographer to shoot their wedding day only and since seeing my work had wanted the opportunity to have their photos done by me. I excitedly accepted the opportunity to do so and am so grateful that I chose to.

The day of the shoot the weather was so perfect, it was a little breezy and just sunny enough to make you forget that you are in a city known for its crazy whether and humidity. They picked this fabulous location right around the corner from the church they got married at and I could have serious continued to shoot for a couple of hours longer after discovering all the wonderful little places nestled in this location :)

I recently finished a photoshop class and was ecstatic to try out all of the new things I had learned combined with some of my old editing and new found taste that is inspired by discovering so many new amazing blogs. So here are a few of my favorites from their shoot including a few new tricks that were quite successful, enjoy!

P.s. They tried to warn me that they weren't photogenic, too bad they had no idea how completely untrue that was ;)

Inhale, Exhale

Often times we get so caught up in life we fail to stop and simply take a breath.

I recently saw this interesting sermon on breathing and the name YHWH also known in English as Yahweh.
The speaker spoke so sovereignly on how each of the letters, YHWH were like breaths when pronounced properly since there are no vowels in the Hebrew language. The speaker then mentioned that we take twenty-six thousand breaths a day and that we were designed to breathe from our stomach's, not our chest. If we were to do just that we would actually be getting an astounding 90% of our energy from our breathing.

This stuck with me and has been a thought I have meditated on for the past couple of weeks.

Interestingly enough a professional photog that I admire recently wrote a blog on forgetting to breathe, again such a captivating idea taken from scripture but in a different light,
Romans 8:5-6: Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. the mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

She added the sentiment saying how she wanted to breathe in life and peace.

I having been completely engulfed in life's daily activities, have been forgetting to just stop and breathe. So tonight I decided to take a moment and do so while trying to finish up my mile high to-do list and realize that the list is only a list and time and perspective are what matters.

Tying this back into photography I realized that every moment that I so adore capturing, special or everyday, is a breath; its a moment that we have now to cherish.

One of the most breath-taking and yet overwhelmingly peaceful moments thus far in my life has been the moment I got to experience is this--

Created

This week while working on my website, I began to explore photography websites to read their about me. I had no idea where to begin with mine and after reading and seeing a hefty amount from the photographers I admire, I still didn't know how to express myself in words.

Not that I am not good with words, I love writing and I especially love talking haha.

So I decided to hop on fb and look at the latest news and thats when I saw a blog post from one of the photog's I was mentioning and then it clicked.

Simple words with no explanations for who or why they are. That's me, no explanation needed.

So as I put together these words I realized that one of the words I love is created. Like breathe and brisk and intricate, this word is and just means so much when you apply it to your life.

We are created beings.

So in honor of my love for the creator I want to share a couple of photos from a trip I took to California last May :)

Inheritance

When it comes to family, what is the first thing that comes to mind for you?

In a beautiful way I like to imagine that our inheritance here on earth is our family, God gave them to us for many reasons but one that sticks out for me is to experience relationship that has no bounds :)

For example, I love to think of all of the quirky qualities of my family mostly but what makes us unique is our bond.

I recently had the opportunity to do a shoot for a beautiful family on the most gorgeous afternoon and wanted to share of few of the moments I captured with them, with you, enjoy!
